We’re very excited to announce that Alan Dale, Fleet Manager of Burgess is to be Course Director of the Academy’s Diploma in Superyacht Management. Alan has played an integral role within the Maritime Industry for many years. Initially from commercial sector, Alan was involved in a number of ship refurbishment projects and later joined the Cunard ISM project team as Technical Adviser. After the implementation of the ISM code, Alan felt it was time for a change and subsequently joined Nigel Burgess Ltd (NBL) in January 1998. For twelve years Alan worked as Technical Manager during which time he was involved in numerous new builds and refit projects. More recently as Fleet Manager at Burgess he is overseeing the development of Junior Managers as well as heading up the Technical Management and Human Resources. Burgess was founded in 1975 by renowned sailor Nigel Burgess. Since then, Burgess has been recognised as the global leading authority in the sale and purchase, new construction, charter and management of the world’s finest yachts.

“Having worked in yacht management since 1998 I have witnessed an evolution of the yachting industry with regard to attitude towards safety and professionalism. This training program continues to develop that theme by encouraging crew members to understand the industry from the other side of the coin and for that reason I have chosen to give it my full support.” Alan says.
