Maritime Training Academy: 2025 year in review
As 2025 comes to a close, the Maritime Training Academy are reflecting on a year full of growth, milestones, and memorable moments. From launching new courses to celebrating long-standing team members, it has been a year to remember. Here’s a look back at some of the highlights.
January
We kicked off the year by celebrating our Student of 2024, Patricio Barra Tassara. January was relatively quiet in terms of events, but we marked World Croissant Day in the office, proving that even small moments can brighten the start of the year.
February
February brought exciting changes with Russell Stockil joining as the new Course Director for Superyacht Management. We also celebrated a milestone as Matt marked seven years with MTA!

March
Team spirit was high in March. The MTA team enjoyed an Escape Room adventure, followed by dinner. Team 1 included Andrew, Keely, Chloe, and Tate, and Team 2 featured Matt, Beth, Vicki, and Josh. That same month, we attended the Superyacht Charities Ball in Southampton, raffling a Short Course as a prize. Pancake Day also brought some sweet fun to the office.
April
We welcomed a record-breaking number of students in a single month and concluded the financial year as our strongest to date. During this time, we also launched the Student Forum on our student platform, providing a space for students to connect, share insights, and support one another throughout their studies.
May
In May, Matt and Beth attended the Palma Yacht Show, and we launched a LinkedIn Education page so students could showcase their qualifications. The team also took part in a 5K inflatable fun run, including Keely, Chloe, Tate, and Fi.
June
June was full of celebrations and team outings. Beth marked nine years with MTA, and the team enjoyed three Friday nights at Goodwood Races. We also held our summer meeting at MSI with lunch at Haslar Marina, catching up on all the exciting plans ahead. In addition, we launched new student completion packs to support our graduates.
July
July focused on planning and preparation. Several new Diplomas and Short Courses were in development, keeping MTA at the forefront of maritime education. We also celebrated 23 years of MTA, marking another year of dedication to excellence.
August
August saw the launch of one new Short Course, Childcare Onboard a Superyacht, and three new Diplomas: Superyacht Owners Representatives, Marine Consultancy, and Superyacht Charter Brokerage and Management.
September
The MTA team attended the Monaco Yacht Show, with Matt and Beth attending for the 7th or 8th time and Keely and Chloe attending for the first time. We also launched three new Short Courses: Ammonia as a Marine Fuel, Offshore Wind Turbine, and Environmental, Social and Governance Policies.
October
Halloween brought fun to the office with costumes and treats, creating a festive atmosphere for the team.
November
November welcomed two new team members, Amber as Account Manager and Sophie as Social Media Manager. Keely also celebrated four years with MTA, another milestone worth recognising.
December
The festive season was packed with celebrations. Highlights included the Peel House Christmas Party at Farnham Castle’s Snowflake Ball, a team lunch at the Castle Pub, office Secret Santa, and Christmas Jumper Day… a perfect way to close out a successful year.
Looking ahead
2025 has been an incredible year for MTA, full of achievements, growth, and team spirit. We look forward to 2026 with excitement, continuing to deliver high-quality maritime education, launching exciting new courses, and supporting our students and staff every step of the way. Watch this space!
