Career Pathway
Career path:
From almost any walk of life to move into the Offshore Wind Industry either afloat or ashore working for a wide range of different companies manufacturing and installing offshore wind turbines.
Salary:
From £20-50K per annum. How much you earn depends on your experience, job role and sector of the industry. A wind turbine tech working on an offshore installation will earn more than at an onshore wind farm.
Duties:
Any and all aspects of the management and control of the design, development, manufacture, planning and installation of offshore wind farms and subsequent maintenance thereof.

My career spans 40+ years from all operating stages to Chief Engineer on a variety of vessels which include cable laying ships and selfpropelled jack-ups.
More recently from 2002 I formed an independent offshore consultancy company carrying out a range of consultancy work including training/ competency for blue chip offshore oil and gas and renewable energy companies.
Other aspects of work include operations manuals for renewable offshore and shipping assets as well as Failure Mode Effect Critical Analysis (FMECAs) for well-known offshore companies.
