Here at the Maritime Training Academy, one of the highlights of the job is attending boat shows throughout the year. To kick things off for 2024 we made a break from usual traditions and as a first for us attended the Palm Beach International Boat Show (PBIBS).

We have attended Fort Lauderdale regularly and have always found it hugely valuable so we were excited for our first visit to Palm Beach and despite managing to take the British weather with us, it didn’t disappoint!

Before the show kicked off, I had the great experience of visiting the Safe Harbor Lauderdale Marine Centre, with a tour from Arturo – who is set to start studying with us soon. It was great to see how the boatyard operated and the latest developments and innovations in the yachting world.

Once the show was underway, I had the pleasure of catching up with lots of industry connections, as well as many former and current students, including Terrane Roker, who has recently been appointed as Business Development Manager in the marine services team at Trident Trust. It was great to hear that his Superyacht Operations diploma was a contributing factor in securing the role.

One of my personal highlights was meeting two prospective future students who kindly offered me a tour of the stunning Motoryacht Focus 47m!

With the largest demographic of our students based in the Fort Lauderdale area, our presence at the Palm Beach show was incredibly valuable to catch up with former, existing and potential students. It was also a brilliant opportunity to meet up with our connections in the industry and form new business relationships. Palm Beach is a great boat show and we will definitely be returning in future years!
